Proper weatherstripping is a critical component to improving the energy efficiency of wood windows and saving them from the landfill. This two-part workshop will focus on how Accurate Machine Made weatherstrip is made and produced by hand in the shop in Maine. The second part of the workshop will discuss the how, what, when, where, and why of weatherstripping, and its use to seal air leaks from windows and doors.

The Window Preservation Alliance's Annual Meeting features two full days of workshops, "shop talk with the pros" learning opportunities, and panel discussion sessions. There will be vendors on hand throughout the conference to show window restoration specific products. WPA Board Member and Accurate's owner, Marc Bagala, is hosting the conference this year at his shops in Westbrook, Maine. Accurate Shop Manager, Carl Bagala, will be demonstrating our manufacturing process and answering questions throughout the weekend. The WPA conference is open to members and non-members.
Stop watching your money go out the door! Gaps around exterior doors are costing homeowners hundreds of dollars annually so it’s well worth it to weatherstrip and reduce energy consumption and cut fuel bills. There are many advantages to adding weatherstripping to doors, and it’s a relatively inexpensive home improvement for a lot of return!
A typical household spends $2,000 or more per year on their home energy bills. Much of that money may be wasted if it leaks out through gaps in wooden sash windows and doors. You can save an average of 7.5% on your fuel bills by fixing air leaks with weatherstripping. On average, weatherstripping pays for itself in 1 – 3 years.
If you reach out to Accurate Machine Made, or stop by our shop, you are likely to talk with Carl Bagala.
